Generally change in skin starts at the age of 30 years.
After 35 years of age these changes are fast. At the age
of 50 - 65 , skin undergoes more changes. If proper care
is given to the skin than the phase of change can be
reduced.
Skin is normally of four types:
Normal skin
This type of skin is soft and shiny. People of this kind
of skin should get the facial done within one month.
Dry skin
Dry skin lacks moisture
and oil. Such people should get
the facial done within 15 days. Thermo herb mask is best
for the dry skin.
Oily skin
The glands secretes more sebum, in this type of skin
because of which skin is more oily. Generally, its
quantity is more on head, nose and chin. This type of
skin suffers from the problem of whiteheads and
blackheads. Such people should get regular
cleansing,
toning and moisturizer tone. If they do not suffer from
the problem of pimples, than they should get the facial
done.
Combination skin
In such type of skin, head, nose and chin are oily but
cheeks are dry.
Pearl facial, oxygen facial can be done on normal,
dry and oily skin.
Gold facial should be done after 30 years of age but
skin should not be sensitive.
Aromatherapy facial gives young and fresh look to the
skin.

direction. This activity should be done 4-5 times. Than tap all the face.
After this keep the ice cube in cotton cloth & rub it on the face in such a
manner that all the cream is removed from the face. Massage from the ice
cube for at least five minutes. Than apply the face pack. You can use
homemade or readymade face pack of market.
Make at home facial mask

leave it on for 20 or more minutes and then rinse off. If the
peaches in your supermarket are less than juice-dripping ripe, as is
the case for most of the year, you can take a whole peach, pit it,
and puree it in the blender and smear that on your face (and then
eat the leftovers, yummy).
(e) Soak 1 cup dried apricots in water until softened. Puree in
blender or food processor with 2 tablespoons skim milk powder. Apply
to face and let set about 15 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp
wash cloth.
Facial spa
Steam treatment
Shut
out the world for a while and breathe deeply of this relaxing and
hydrating herbal steam facial. Steam opens the skin's pores while deeply
cleansing and rejuvenating all the skin's layers. Using herbs in facial
steams is a wonderful way to nourish your skin. All you need to make
your own natural facial is a pot of water, a method of heating the
water, and a towel. Therapeutic herbs can be infused in the water so
that their healing benefits will become part of the steam and reach deep
into your pores.
Herbs have
surprising effects on the skin. Many are emollient, softening and
lubricating; others hydrate and moisturize; and most are antibacterial
and anti-inflammatory. Licorice root is the number one herbal choice for
steaming no matter what your skin type, because it helps open the pores,
soothes, cleanses, and lubricates. Just break a piece of root into your
steam pot. As for other herbs, for dry skin try lavender, mint or
calendula; for sensitive skin try calendula, chamomile, or comfrey; for
oily skin try mint, lavender, rose and/or witch hazel. Note: Those with
asthma or allergies to herbs should speak to their doctor before using
these herbs in a steam. Chamomile is in the ragweed family.
If you are
traveling, instead of steaming your face with herb-infused water, you
can use the hot-towel method. Saturate a towel with steaming hot water.
Let cool enough to touch the skin, then wrap your clean face with it,
and leave it on for two minutes or so.
Here are
simple, seven-step directions to make your own facial steam:
Facial home steam
1. Place a
handful of herbs in a pot of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the
heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes, adding water as needed.
2. Secure
your hair back from your face.
3. Wash your
face as usual.
4. Place the
pot with the steaming water on a trivet or potholder on a table or
countertop. Make a tent over your head with a towel, and hang your head
over the steaming pot. Make sure not to lean close enough to the steam
to scald yourself.
5. Keep your
face in the steam tent for about 5 minutes.
6. Rinse
your face with cool water.}
7. Follow
with an astringent (for example, witch hazel) to close the pores
Best Facial creams
If you apply
eye cream, or any facial cream incorrectly, it may cause your eyes to be
puffy and swollen – especially in the morning.
Make sure
the creams are not applied to the center corner (near your nose) of your
eyes, as the cream could impact and obstruct a tear duct, which will
cause swelling of the eye.
The way you sleep
If you find
that your eyes are more swollen in the morning, have a look at maybe
increasing height of your pillows, by adding another cushion when going
to bed. The raising of your head could assist with draining excess
fluids as well.
Although
massage can be most beneficial – it must be done correctly, with
concentration and not be rushed through.
First clean
your face well and then use a very light textured oil or cream as
massage medium to prevent stretching or stressing this fragile skin.
You might
want to look at almond oil, since this oil is wonderfully emollient,
without being heavy and greasy. Another oil that you might consider is
jojoba oil, but because of the high cost of pure jojoba oil, it might
work out a bit expensive.
You could
also look at massaging with plain aqueous cream, since it is very
economical and is also great to work with.
When doing
facial massage, please keep your touch SOFT and do not stretch the skin
– it must be done gently.
If you have
long hair, tie it away from your face before doing any facial massage to
prevent the oil or cream getting into your hair.
When you are
finished doing the massage, remove the oil from your eyes by gently
washing the area with a very gentle cleanser, or remove the excess oil
by blotting it with a tissue. Make sure to remove excess oil or cream
from the corners of your eyes, otherwise, as stated above, you might
land up with eyes that are even more baggy or swollen.
Massage # 1
Place
the ring finger (because it is not too strong) of each hand into the
inner corners of each eye and press down gently to the count
of three seconds, relax and then slide the fingers gently underneath
your eyes towards your temples . When reaching the temples, gently
massage in a circular movement. Slide your fingers back gently to
the inner corners of your eyes again and repeat seven times.
Massage # 2
Place
the tip of your right hand middle finger gently where your nose
starts and slide it up and down to the tip of your nose and
back 10 times. Then, by using the fingertips of both the middle
fingers, gently press towards your face on the point on your cheek
and nostrils meet . Release the pressure, and with small circular
movements, softly massage all the way up to your temple, following
the bone structure under your eyes – taking about 10 seconds to do
so. Massage your temples for 5 seconds and then slide your fingers,
going back the same way, back to the starting point and repeat the
exercise 5 times.
Homemade Facial
A basic
facial must include at least 3 elements: (1) cleansing; (2)
toning; and
(3) moisturizing. Additional steps might include steaming, exfoliating
and masking. Each of these steps is outlined below, along with suggested
recipes for you to try.
Home facial steamer Before cleansing your skin with a gentle cleanser, it is wise to give
yourself a light steam treatment to open your pores and prepare your
face for cleaning. To do this, simply soak a soft towel in a bowl of
comfortably warm herbal tea (chamomile is one of my favorites). Wring
out the towel and place it over your face and neck area and relax until
it cools slightly. You may repeat this process, as it is quite soothing.
Homemade facial cleanser
Cleanse your face with a gentle handmade cleanser such as Rose Cream
Cleanser. Use upward, circular movements of the fingertips to gently
stimulate the skin and help lift surface debris and excess oil. Rinse
with warm water and gently pat excess moisture from face with a soft
towel. If you wear heavy make-up,
you might wish to repeat the cleansing
process.
Skin toner After cleansing, it
is important to tone the skin using ingredients that help balance the pH
of the skin, which is typically disturbed during the cleansing process.
The recipe for Tone Up Tea is excellent for most skin types, and
contains aloe to soothe and green tea as an effective anti-oxidant.
Apply the toner with a soft cotton pad, but do not rub the skin. Rather,
saturate the pad and pat the toner over the face and neck area. Do not
pat skin dry. If you sense the aroma of the cider vinegar, don't worry.
It disappears quickly. Apple cider vinegar is the best natural
ingredient to ensure optimal pH balance for the skin. Avoid eye area
when using this toner. You skin is now ready for moisturizing.
Moisturize skin
Moisturize your skin using Aromatic Facial Oil, which contains a host of
soothing ingredients to add moisture and nutrients to your skin. To seal
in the moisture, be sure to apply the oil while skin remains damp from
applying the toner. Gently apply the oil to your face and neck using
patting motions. For oily areas of skin, one application of oil should
suffice. Apply twice to dry areas of skin, waiting about 2-3 minutes
between applications, and being sure to moisten the skin slightly with
water or toner before the second application.
Exfoliation
On occasion,
you may wish to add a gentle exfoliation and mask to your treatment. You
can try the recipes here, or make up your own using ingredients you have
in your own kitchen. Persons with oily skin may find exfoliation
beneficial once or twice a week, while people with dry skin may wish to
exfoliate only once a month.
Homemade cleanser:
Rose Cream
Cleanser
1 tablespoon sour cream
1 teaspoon rose hydrosol
2 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
Combine all
ingredients in the order shown, stirring well after each one. Apply
cleanser to face and neck skin, using gentle, upward sweeping motions.
Rinse well. This recipe should be used within 2 days and makes enough
for two cleanings.
Tone Up Tea
1 cup distilled water
1 heaping tablespoon dried green tea leaves
1 heaping tablespoon dried chamomile flowers
1 tablespoon rose hydrosol
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
3 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
3 teaspoon lemon juice (optional addition for oily skin)
Heat
distilled water until boiling. Remove from heat and add green tea and
chamomile. Steep for 15 minutes and strain out plant material. Add rose
hydrosol, aloe vera and vinegar (and lemon juice, if using) and stir
well. Pour into a clean bottle and label. Shake well to ensure the mix.
Store in refrigerator for best results and use within 3 weeks.
In a glass
bowl or dish, combine oils with essential oils. Stir with a clean pop
sickle stick or plastic utensil to combine. Pour into a clean bottle,
preferably one with a medicine dropper so you can apply the oil using
the dropper. After cleansing and toning, and while skin remains a bit
damp, apply a bit of the moisturizer using gentle patting motions. Do
not rub the oil into the skin. Rather, just gently pat it onto the skin
and it will absorb readily within a few minutes.
Exfoliation face Oats & Aloe Exfoliant
1 tablespoon finely ground oats
1 tablespoon finely ground almonds
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
Combine
ingredients in a bowl and stir until well mixed. Apply to face and neck
skin after cleansing and before toner is applied, using gentle circular
motions. Rinse well with warm water and gently pat excess moisture from
face. Follow with facial mask.
Facial
Mask
2 tablespoons white clay
3 tablespoons whipping cream
1 tablespoon rose hydrosol
Combine all
ingredients together in a bowl and stir until a paste-like consistency
is achieved. If mixture is too runny, add a bit more clay and stir. If
mixture is not smooth enough, add a bit more hydrosol. Spread over
clean
face as the step immediately preceding application of facial toner,
avoiding eye area and lips. Rest for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm,
water and pat excess water from face.
