The process of improving the beauty of skin completes in eight steps.
i) Primary cleaning   ii) Massage   iii) Herbal Steam   iv) Cleaning of pores  v) Face pack  vi) Toning
vii) Moisturizer         viii) Moisturizing    ix) Make up (optional)                  Among these primary cleaning & moisturizing should be the daily routine. Rest of the process should be done once in a week or twice in a month.

Methods of skin cleansing:

  • Contrast showers: alternating between hot and cold water increases microcirculation through body tissues and allows for detoxification, which strengthens the immune system by raising the white blood cells count. This contrast shower system helps bring necessary nutrients, oxygen and immune cells to stressed tissues and flushes toxic substances from the body. This method involves beginning the skin cleansing routine with three minutes of hot water, followed by less than one minute of cold water and the pattern to be repeated once.

  • Sauna: is used in many cultures as a regular feature of detoxification. It helps in eliminating environmental chemicals stored in fat cells. One should avoid taking up this method after eating or when feeling weak. For best skin cleansing results from the Sauna method, a dry heat sauna, untreated with toxic chemicals is best. A 20 to 30 minute exercise program including cardiovascular workouts like running or exercise bicycle, before sauna use, helps stimulate the circulation of blood and lymph to the deep tissues. A 15-minute sauna sitting at a time, in a low temperature sauna helps detoxify while keeping the person hydrated and minerals balanced.

Tips to promote skin cleansing:

Sauna Detoxification System: Drinking 8-12 glasses of water daily makes for a good skin cleansing routine, while those going in for a sauna detoxification system need to drink more water.

Health Care: A health care practitioner can guide which are the right mineral supplements to take, depending on the health conditions of a person.

Body Cleansing: Most mild, liquid cleansers help cleanse the whole body but some types available in the market are used without water also. These commercial cleansers are rubbed lightly over the skin to loosen cosmetics, debris and dirt and are followed up with a thorough warm water rinse. A clean dry cloth/tissue is used for drying off the excess but persons with sensitive skin need to take special care to remove all traces, as certain ingredients in a cleanser can be irritants for them, if left on the skin.

Skin Cleanser: A twice daily application of a mild skin cleanser is what doctor's advice but to be on the safer side, it is better to consult personal health care advisors and determine skin-type and sensitivity before decide the cleansing routine and frequency.

Importance of Skin cleansing:
The surface skin is the first line of defense against infection and environmental elements and facial skin is most vulnerable. Skin care experts recommend a thorough yet gentle cleansing routine for skin on the hands and face as skin cleansers also work as emulsifiers: they remove dirt, excess sebum, bacteria, cosmetics and exfoliate surface skin cells.

CLEANSING MILK
There are often times when we run out of our Makeup Remover. If such happens, we should know that we can always remove our makeup by using three tablespoons of powdered milk in a jar and add just about one cup of warm water and then cover the jar with the lid and shake it. Now you will get a mixture, you need to shake it if you want it to be a little more thick, now you can dip the a piece of cotton in that and then start wiping out the chemicals off of your face. You can also wipe your makeup off with the help of a teabag.

PRIMARY CLEANING

First of all make a mixture. For this grind Jethi madhu, madder, nutmeg ghritkumari, coriander, cumin, fenugreek, lemon shell, neem, tulsi & sandal, grinded pulse or wheat flour. Mix them & grind them.
FOR NORMAL SKIN:
Mix them & grind in water properly.
FOR DRY SKIN:
Mix or grind in milk or butter.
FOR OILY SKIN:
Mix or grind in lemon juice or curd.

MAKE OIL ACCORDING TO YOUR SKIN:
FOR NORMAL SKIN:
Put tulsi or lemon in almond oil.
FOR DRY SKIN:
Mix rose, sandal or jasmine juice in sesame oil.
FOR OILY SKIN:
Put jasmine or sunflower oil in lime juice.

METHOD:
First of all rub the mixture on your face properly & wash your face. Now massage with the massage oil on your face. Don't massage with pressure. Bring fingers towards the nose in circular movement, take your fingers towards center of eyebrows & take them back in the same manner. In the same manner take your fingers from near the nose towards the corner of eyebrows, in circular movement, massage down the nose & lips until chin. In this manner massage the whole face for half an hour.
Now warm the clean water in one utensil. Put rose, sandal, ashvagandha, lemon leaves, orange shell in it & boil it. Now keep it down. Cover your hair with towel & keep your face for 12-15" away from the utensil. Take steam on your face, for about ten minutes.

Vaseline is your best friend Skip the bottled cleaners: Vaseline is the best eye makeup remover hands down. It's also great for fixed chapped, scaly lips. Slather on a bunch of Vaseline, then use a toothbrush to massage lips. Wipe the excess off on a tissue. Your lips will be smooth and soft.

Good tomatoes are an abundant source of vitamins A, B (including folic acid), and C; potassium and magnesium; and valuable antioxidants and trace elements. The high acid content in the recipe - lactic acid in the milk and fruit acid in the tomato - gives this cleansing lotion a gentle peeling action. Test on the inside arm or wrist for any possible allergic reactions before using on the face.

Ingredients
1 medium very ripe tomato
5 fl. oz fresh whole milk
bottled or spring water

Method
Process the tomato, using a food processor or blender. Strain through a piece of muslin and discard the pulp. Add the tomato juice to an equal amount of milk. Store in a covered container or bottle in the refrigerator.
Apply to the face and neck, using cotton pads, once or twice a day. Leave on for 10 minutes and rinse with bottled or spring water and pat dry.
Effect: cleanses
Skin types: oily, combination (but test first, see above), not recommended for sensitive skin
Frequency of use: once or twice daily for 1 week
Shelf life: 6 hours in refrigerator
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Treatment time: 10 minutes

METHOD OF APPLYING FACE PACK:
Take banana, sweet melon, grapes, apple, cucumber, lemon & tomato. Grind it, make paste & apply on the face. If it is too wet mix yellow ochre in it so that it does not fall from face. You can apply it on your body also. Wash it with cold water & clean face with towel. Now apply rose or tulsi water on face. It is also used as toner.

MOISTURIZER
Light in day & thick at night. Take two tea spoon ghritkumari juice, two tea spoon almond oil ( for normal skin ), or sesame oil ( for dry skin ), or sunflower oil ( for oily skin), one tea spoon lanolin & two tea spoon rose water. Keep the oil in separate container. Warm the oil separately & mix all the contents . Keep it to get cold. For applying it in the night, break the pills of Vitamin A& E & put it in it, it will make the quantity of ghritkumari less. Keep it in clean bottle in cool place

METHOD OF MAKING AYURVEDIC OIL:
For dry skin, take four parts of sesame oil, one part ashvagandha, penny wort, haritki, tulsi, shatavari, dalchini & fenugreek. Take water four times of the oil taken. Mix them & boil. When the mixture is being boiled, reduce the flame & let it be boiled for 6-7 hours. When all the water from the mixture disappears than set down the mixture from the stove & keep it to cool.
If the skin is oily than mix marigold flower, amvla, coriander, jasmine, madder & sandal to make oil.
For normal skin mix four pills of Vitamin A in olive or almond oil. Put Ashvagandha, fenugreek, haritki, neem, eucalyptus & dalchini in it.
Prepare oil from the method described above.

Body Cleanser
Every 2 hours drink a cup of hot water with lemon juice. It flushes out built up toxins.
Sea Salt:
contains magnesium, zinc, calcium, potassium and iodine, together with minute amounts of other trace elements.
Lemon -
Did you know that the word "ascorbic," as in ascorbic acid (the name for vitamin C), means "no scurvy"?
*Cleansing will remove old make-up and the grime and grease that have been accumulated during the day.
*Remove mascara with a cotton bud dipped in eye-dipped in eye-cleansing lotion. To make the job easier keep your hair off your face.
*Remove the eye shadow by gently wiping it off with a pad of clean cotton wool moistened with eye-cleansing lotion.
*Pour a little face cleansing cream into the palm of one hand and dab it generously over the nose, chin, forehead and cheeks---using two fingers of the other hand.
*Massage the cream into the skin, starting under the throat, using a gentle upward motion.
*Continue massaging the cream up to the forehead, using the fingertips.
*Gently massage the cream from the eyes to the nose.
*Massage cream back over the chin, which is particularly prone to blackheads. Use the index finger.
*Remove the cream from the face with tissue pads in each hand. Start under the chin and work over the cheeks and on to the forehead

Clean and clear
Start by cleansing dry or sensitive skin with a gentle, non-stripping gel cleanser. If you have oily, acne-prone skin, find a gentle gel formula that's made specifically for your skin type, and follow with a non-alcoholic toner. Those containing alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) work especially well to help smooth the skin’s texture.

On days when you really need to exfoliate, use a gentle, grainy scrub (skip this step if you've got sensitive skin). If you've got oily skin, you'll want to exfoliate twice weekly, concentrating on blackhead-prone areas like the nose and chin.

Don't over-cleanse your skin! If you washed your face the night before, you don't need to do it again in the morning unless you've been sleep walking in a pig sty! Rinse your skin and pat it dry-that's it. Your skin needs the oils it produces while you sleep; quit fighting with your skin and it will look better.

Use the right face cleanser
Think twice about using soap to wash your face. Some soaps are simply too harsh for sensitive facial skin, as they remove essential oils and make the skin more vulnerable to bacterial growth, cellular damage or plugged hair follicles - leaving skin dry and flaky. To attain a healthy looking glow, choose a mild cleanser formulated for your specific skin type.

Cleansers for sensitive skin

If you have sensitive skin, take a close look at the ingredient list in your facial cleanser. You'll want to stay away from surfactants (surface-acting agents) containing carboxylate, sulfonate or sulfate ions, as these compounds can be irritating.

Considering a mild soap?

Mild soaps are specially designed to be as gentle as possible. And because they don't contain added color or perfume, they are less likely to cause irritation or allergic reactions.

What should you look for in a cleanser

Seek out those that have polysorbates, which are anionic surface-acting agents (or surfactants) that are compatible with the skin's natural pH. Silicone-based surfactants like dimethicone are also non-irritating, non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic.

Oily skin

Certain parts of the body - the face, chest and back - are often more prone to oily skin. Use cleansers and moisturizers specially designed for oily skin on these areas of your body and choose other skin care products for your arms, legs, hands and feet.

Antibacterial soap

Antibacterial soaps are becoming increasingly popular, particularly among those whose work brings them into frequent contact with the public. It's important to remember, however, that these soaps can be very drying and can contribute to eczema flare-ups.

Lipid-free cleanser

Looking for a makeup remover that won't aggravate dry skin or eczema. Try a lipid-free cleanser - a liquid cleanser that does not contain any fat. Usually applied to the skin and then wiped away or rinsed off with water, this type of cleanser will leave a very fine moisturizing film on the skin. Lipid-free cleansers are also appropriate for those with older, drier skin.

Exfoliating your face

Never exfoliate your face? You are missing out on getting rid of those old skin cells that accumulate on the surface. Exfoliating will make your skin glow, and let your moisturizer penetrate better. Just remember to use gentle products, especially if you have sensitive skin!
